How they differ

Who does the work, and what you get.

  • Done-for-you services charge per trade, and an estimator does the takeoff. Good when you want a person on your job.
  • Software is a subscription, and you (or your estimator) do the takeoff. Worth it when you bid every day.
  • Supplier takeoffs are often free because they are tied to buying that supplier's material.
  • Aerial and photo reports measure a house that is already standing. From plans, only the blueprint versions apply.
  • 10 Minute Bids builds the house in 3D from the plans and hands back each trade's takeoff, material list, supplier order sheet and draft bid, for one price a trade. You spend about 10 minutes checking it before you send it.
Questions

Takeoff cost: questions

How much does a roofing takeoff cost?

Published prices from plans run from $30 (a blueprint roof report) to about $200 (an outsourced takeoff). Ours is $39 for the roof, with a 3D model, material list, supplier order sheet and draft bid (prices as of October 6, 2026).

Why do supplier takeoffs cost nothing?

They are usually tied to buying that supplier's material, and they can take longer. Ours is yours to send to any supplier for a price.

Is takeoff software cheaper?

Per month it can be, if you bid a lot: but you do the takeoff yourself. Subscriptions run from about $260 a year to $299 a month per user.

Is a takeoff an exact price?

No. A takeoff from plans is an estimate. Plans don't show everything, so a site visit is recommended before you sign or order.
